Volumes of Love: We Are Family

With our private portraits done, it was time to head off to our little party… oh, you know, our reception!  I was incredibly parched and hungry (and made a mental note to put waters in the day-of bag for Miss Sox’s wedding in a few weeks), so I was pumped to get back to our friends, family, and the food!

Dad Library acted as chauffeur and drove Mr. Library and I to the hotel.  We decked out my Saturn with a “Just Married” sign on the back and then smooshed me in my dress into the backseat.  Mr. Library got in on the other side, and we held hands all the way back.  It was like we were just beginning to date in high school again.  As we rode, this song played on the radio, so now I will always remember it as a part of our day.

Forget about airplanes.  I already was living my wish.

Our ride was a little longer than we meant, as Dad Library took a wrong turn and started to drive to Sunday River’s other resort.  Woops!  Once we turned around, Dad Library dropped us off and went to park the car while Mr. Library and I checked into our room.“Um hi, we should be checking into the honeymoon suite?”

Once we were checked in, Dad Library went on a speed mission to find us some water.  I could have lived with a glass, a jug, a whole well… anything!  This bride needed WATER!  After some runaround, Dad Library came back with some bottles and we chugged it while the Groom Squad chatted it up in the lobby with us.I have to admit that I was getting a little moody by then due to lack of food and high expectation, and I am pretty sure I told Mr. Library to pay more attention to me since he had just married me and not his groom squad, but he took it all in stride.

We moved into the hallway between the main hotel and the ballroom, and my girls came to find me.  We bustled my dress with relative ease and Cousin Jess took out my veil and put in my hair flower.Once everything was in place, I had runners go get our extended families for our family photos.  These photos have become tradition in my family’s weddings, so I knew I wanted to take the time to do them.  I popped outside to follow the photographer while Mr. Library’s family started to come together.  I guess this is where my semi-angry bride moment really happened.  MIL Library decided that she didn’t want to wait for the rest of the relatives, so she told the photographer to forget about separate photos and just combine her side with FIL Library’s side.  That wasn’t what I wanted, and I let the photographer know it.  There were so many people who came from both sides that we wanted to honor everyone with a picture where people they knew stood next to them.  This wasn’t a time for “whatever, just take it.”  I wanted these photos!

Finally, everyone came together and we took some great extended family photos.MIL Library’s extended side:  BIL K, his girlfriend (and hopefully a future member!) E, Uncle B, Aunt M, FIL Library, MIL Library, me, Mr. Library, Granny Library, Aunt S, Great Aunt H, Great Aunt H’s daughter E, and Uncle J.FIL Library’s extended family:  Mr. C (Aunt C’s boyfriend), Aunt C, extended cousin E, Aunt S, Cousin A, extended cousin L, Uncle T, Cousin H, Cousin C, MIL Library, Flower Girl E, Bird Bearer A, me, Mr. Library, BIL K, FIL Library, Cousin C, Ring Bearer J, Cousin C’s husband T, Cousin M, Cousin M’s dad R, and girlfriend E.Dad Library’s extended family:  Cousin J, Cousin E, Cousin B, Cousin K, Cousin C, Gram Library, Mr. Library, me, Dad Library, Mom Library, Great Aunt S, Uncle B, Aunt L, Aunt K, Uncle D, Sister Library, and her boyfriend J.

Our photographer wanted my Aunt K to move from one side of the photo to the other, but seeing as how he didn’t know her name, he referred to her as the “pretty blonde.”  Somehow that progressed into Aunt K being named a cougar.  Love it!Mom Library’s extended family:  Cousin A, Aunt P, Cousin M, Cousin K, Cousin J, little cousin C, Cousin B, Mr. Library, me, Dad Library, Mom Library, Aunt C, Cousin K, Cousin Jess, Uncle D, Sister Library, and her boyfriend J.

I had wanted to get photos of those who went to our alma maters as well, but the time we had budgeted was completely eaten up and a little more due to people straggling in.  We decided to scrape them and get the show on the road.  We went back into the hotel, grabbed some food they had put out for the wedding party, and got everyone ready for our grand entrance!
