Volumes of Love: Assemble!

It’s recap time, people!  I’ve been trying to get through our honeymoon recap as fast as my fingers and photo uploads would allow so I could get to this part!  So Here.  We.  Go!

If you remember, the Sunday before the wedding, Mr. Library and I made a dubious life choice and moved all of our stuff into our new apartment.  While we loved living together for a few days, we didn’t really think about the fact that we would have to drive the hour back to our parents’ houses every. single. day.  Let’s just say it didn’t make us happy, our gas tank happy, or our parents happy.  After a few tearful conversations when things just got too stressful, Mr. Library and I couldn’t wait for Thursday to get here!

Why Thursday?  Well, Thursday was the day our wedding party started to assemble!  While most of our wedding party could just make a few hours’ drive to Maine, there were a couple who needed to fly.  Bridesmaid Al lives in Walla Walla, Washington, so she crossed the whole country to come be at our wedding, and BIL Library is interning for the summer in Chicago.  BIL Library’s girlfriend E also had to fly in from where she was working for the summer.  Thankfully, we had amazing friends and family who could go get these guys from the airport for us so that Mr. Library and I could focus on what we needed to finish.

Wednesday night was chaos.  Mr. Library and I were in need of some serious packing, which is no small feat when everything you own is crammed into unorganized boxes.  We I had made every attempt to organize the boxes and pack for our honeymoon beforehand, but that didn’t seem to work so well.  We stayed up until 12:30 AM getting three bags packed for each us:  a suitcase for our honeymoon, an overnight bag for the next couple of days, and a carry-on for the flight.  That’s a whole lot of packing without having any idea where anything is.Once we slept just a little, unplugged everything in our apartment, and loaded our bags into my car, we made a final drive back to my parents’ house.  We had a few errands to run, a few emails to send, and a few projects to finish, like our photograph family tree.My cat Italics wanted to make sure we knew he was part of the tree too.

Around 8 PM, I started acting like a small child on Christmas morning.  Miss Sox, the Soxmeister, and Bridesmaid Al were supposed to be showing up any time, and I couldn’t wait!  I hadn’t seen Al in forever and I hadn’t seen Miss Sox or the Soxmeister in a few weeks either.  Plus, this meant the wedding was finally starting!

Finally, after pacing and checking the window when every car drove by, they showed up!  I ran out into the driveway screaming and already crying.  I couldn’t believe I was with my best friends I hadn’t seen in a year, together again!  We went inside, laughed at their adventures of getting to my house, and relaxed.  We had originally planned to go out, but with the timing of their arrival and everyone’s energy levels, it was better to just chill out and chat.  Mr. Library’s parents came by to pick him up (he wanted to be at his house to oust them out on time the next morning), and we got to say hi to BIL Library and E, fresh off from their flights and a dinner out.  People we loved were coming together and I couldn’t wait to see the rest of them!
